Phantoms Join White Ribbon Campaign
Posted: 22nd November 2007 - 22:30
Wear a white ribbon like The Peterborough Phantoms on 25 November to show that you are prepared to take a stand against this on-going violence
The Peterborough Phantoms Ice Hockey Team will be sporting white ribbons on their shirts this weekend in support of the White Ribbon Campaign.
The White Ribbon Campaign runs from 25 November until 10 December and aims to promote the elimination of violence towards women and children across the world.
Any person can experience domestic violence or abuse regardless of race, ethnic or religious groups, class, sexuality, disability or lifestyle, although it is used mostly by men to control women. However, domestic violence and abuse also occurs where women are the perpetrators and in same sex relationships.
1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will experience domestic violence or abuse in their lifetime.
If you are experiencing violence or abuse, or still suffering the effects of violence or abuse you have experienced in the past, the following organisations can offer support:
Domestic Violence National Helpline: 0808 2000 247
MALE (Men’s Advice Line and Enquiries): 0808 80 10 327
Peterborough Domestic Violence Forum is extremely grateful to the Peterborough Phantoms for their support in this campaign.
