The Healthy Schools programme

The Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce their new "Healthy Schools Programme".

This season the Peterborough Phantoms Ice Hockey team will be going back to school to help promote the game of Ice hockey to children. We are aiming to work closely with local schools in the greater Peterborough area to help promote the game of ice hockey and its attributes such as teamwork, healthy eating, sporting activities and Anti-Drugs.

To encourage people (families especially) along to home games to join in the fun, we are offering schools in the local area a unique opportunity.

Schools are being given the chance to, not only attend a game at a reduced rate, but also the opportunity to raise some funds for themselves.

This scheme gives schools the chance to offer reduced priced tickets to staff, pupils and their families, but instead of this just being an average ticket promotion the Peterborough Phantoms are actually giving money straight back to the individual schools.

For each adult, child or family ticket purchased through the scheme an amount per ticket will be given back to the school for them to use as they see best.

Prior to the game the children will be attending, players will go along to the school and participate in an assembly, which gives the children the chance to meet them and put any questions they may have about Ice Hockey.

The promotion of sports, to children in particular, is such an important issue and being able to give the children the chance to experience such a fast, exciting and fun sport first hand is a great opportunity.

The Peterborough Phantoms have a very healthy youth Ice Hockey programme which we are extremely proud of with teams ranging from the Under 10’s through to the Under 19’s. Perhaps when the children have the chance to come and see a game live, they may even be tempted to have a go themselves.

The Peterborough Phantoms hope the scheme will help schools to earn money for such valuable things as sports equipment and also help to raise the profile of one of the most exciting and family friendly sports in the country.

If you think your school would like to get involved with this programme please e-mail the phantoms via schools@peterborough-phantoms.com and we will be in touch to talk about the Healthy Schools Programme.
